How do glow in the dark products work?

Glow in the dark products make use of phosphorescence which means something that takes in light and then slowly gives it back out. This is why you may notice that your glow in the dark items need to be ‘charged’ by exposing them to light. After you turn off the lights, they slowly give back the light they stored, which is why they glow.
